Financial support for the restoration of the mining sweeper Alta

During the Second World War, new sensitive mines were developed that required advanced tools. US Navy developed a new vessel type, called YMS (Yard Minesweeper). During the Korean War, YMS was further developed into AMS (American Minesweeper). The “Sauda class” (originally AMS 60), like the M314 ALTA, is a representative of such a vessel, given the class designation NYMS (Norwegian YMS). More than 400 are built worldwide. M314 ALTA is the only original AMS class in the world that still sails. The foundation gave a financial support for reparations and upgrades on a new firesystem, engine and a GPS compass among other maintenance.
